Partnership agreement with the Balkan History Association

In 2021, the Institute of History signed a partnership agreement with the Balkan History Association (BHA). The BHA’s mission is to develop and promote international, interdisciplinary and comparative research on the history of the Balkans. The organisation aims to create a community of researchers who specialise in studies on the political, cultural and social past of the region; it also supports the professional development of young historians. Its members include historians from the Balkans (Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Turkey, Moldova, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia) and from western and central European countries (United Kingdom, France, USA, Israel, Ukraine, Slovakia, Norway, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary). The activities of the Balkan History Association include organising academic events (conferences and lectures) as well as outreach meetings addressed to the wider public and publication. The results of research conducted by members of the organisation are disseminated through the “Hiperborea” journal, published by the BHA. The Association protects freedom of speech, encourages ideas exchange and aspires to establishing a cooperation platform for researchers and institutions in the region.
